Great things about this time of year: t-shirts, swimming while fishing, 5 minute ride from my house to the boat ramp, and plentiful walleye.

I have been so busy the last week or so between time on the water, charters, and visits with out of town friends that I have been slacking on the blog and I apologize.   The fishing in the last week or so has been nothing short of spectacular.  The near shore bite has been tough to come by, but each day the game plan is the same…

Launch somewhere between Avon and Edgewater, and start driving North until my Lowrance HDS units tell me to stop.  The fish have been moving everyday, so each day brings out a new hunt, but we eventually find them everyday.  The ability of these units to mark fish at high speeds up to 40mph is really remarkable.  The key is finding hooks without too much bait and white bass around.  I have been meaning to take a pic of what we are looking for in terms of walleye hooks, versus bait mixed in that seems to get us just junk fish.  I promise I will post the difference on here soon.

Once we find the fish, anywhere from 50-65 fow we have been finding them in mostly, the hot zone has been 20-30 feet down.   Dipsys, 2 and 3 oz weights, with spinners and crawlers have been the ticket.

CYC tourney tomorrow our of the Rocky River, be sure to check back soon to see how we did!  Gnight all, I need some rest!
