That moment when all the study, early mornings, rigging, and adjustments come together. It started about 5 years ago with a dream to catch a major ‘do it yourself’ wahoo, here is when it became reality. This one taped out to be 65lbs. What’s next? I want a +100lber. Gosh I love fishing.

The first day we actually struggled somewhat with one small hoo, and a couple small mahi. Our program was a mix ballyhoo on the surface and DTX minnows, and fishing in a broad area. I made a phone call to to my buddy Jeff who gave me some pointers and helped us adjust the game plan for day 2. It consisted of going to out right at sunup, going all out on DTX minnow program, and trolling FAST. Almost 10kts. It’s amazing that those DTX minnows that dive so hard and are that big don’t blow out at that speed. I’ve found you have to rig then on crimped mono or with single strand wire and a haywire twist. The adjustments worked! We ended up having an absolutely epic day of fishing in one of my favorite places on planet earth, the Abacos in Bahamas. 4/5 on wahoo, anchored by this guy, and 2 mahi by 10am. It was extra special to get to share it Mom, Dad, and Kevin! I will remember this fish to eternity. So gratifying and it led to a dream catch. I can’t wait for more!

The dream continues as we were in the Bahamas sketching plans and interview contractors for a property we are in the process of purchasing in this paradise and fishing dreamland.
