The fishing this past week was just crazy, like nothing I’ve ever seen. The amount of fish out there on Lake Erie is mind numbing. You could catch over a 100 walleye a day no problem, but it’s frustrating at the same time because it’s really hard to pattern anything over 20”. I fished a lot this past week trying find the keys to bigger bites. On tournament day, Jason and I decided to make a healthy run out east to try to catch up with some of those bigger migratory fish. The plan was to grind crank baits behind Off Shore Tackle Boards close to the bottom on shoreline structure. The bite where we went wasn’t fast and furious, and I even questioned leaving it a few times, but we ground it out and slowly plucked away at upgrades throughout the day to come up with a 31.7lb bag. In our 3rd Lake Erie Walleye Trail of the year, we finished in 2nd place in the 88 boat field, and secured our 3rd straight top 5 finish! It would have been nice to win, but we are thrilled with the result. Big shout out to the the guys we fish with, they work hard and most importantly have fun. This is what tournament fishing should be like. It was really fun to be close to home and have all my girls there to be a part of it!!!
